Win tickets to watch Bertolucci's Before the Revolution at the BFI

Bertolucci’s brilliantly assured Before the Revolution (Prima della rivoluzione) (1964) centres on the emotional and political conflicts within a young man, Fabrizio, who is contemplating joining the Communist Party. But his personal life is even more unresolved  as he breaks away from his planned marriage to a perfect bourgeoise. Bertolucci’s obsession with politics and cinema is openly expressed through this alter-ego and in the extraordinary freedom of his camerawork and editing. Heartfelt and breathtaking.

Opens 7 April as part of a retrospective of Bernardo Bertulucci’s work at BFI Southbank. Released nationwide from 8 April.
