New: Vintage Scent Sessions - fragrant forays into the world of vintage perfume
These unique bimonthly events will take place at the downstairs Scent Salon in Les Senteurs new shop in Marylebone. Each time, Odette will lead guests on a sensory tour into a particular decade to experience many of the perfumes originally created at that time, from this November’s Fin de Sieclè theme, through to the Sixties and Seventies in September 2012.
Alongside plenty of first-hand scent sampling, guests will discover the connections between perfumery and the the wider cultural, fashion, and even culinary contexts of the time.
Luxury online vintage boutique, Juno Says Hello, will be displaying fabulous outfits from the era to set the scene. All the sampling will no doubt be enhanced by lashings of bellinis and cakes from Konditor & Cook.
“There’s no more magical way of transporting yourself to an era than by smelling it”, thinks Odette Toilette. “Turn back the clock a little, and you have a whole archive of historic fragrances to delight, especially if Britney Spears‘ latest offering isn’t quite your style. They have such wonderful stories, like Grossmith’s Phul-Nana which captialised on the craze for all things eastern leading up to The Great War, through to the jazz age and the perfume Nuit de Noel which evokes the excitement of a Christmas Eve parties, and then in the Forties Robert Piguet’s Fracas, which is pure femme fatale from a film noir.”
