Lindsay Rodham, aka The Lady That Does, provides a personal alteration and repair service specialising in vintage clothing. Based in Walthamstow, East London, Lindsay’s clients come to her for a cup of tea and to discuss in detail how they’d like their garments fixed and changed. If Walthamstow is a tad too far you, can also drop off your vintage at the regular Clerkenwell Vintage Fair, where Lindsay is the resident clothes doctor.

With prices starting at £10 to have the zip in a dress changed, £8 to have your trousers shortened or have rips mended (from £2), The Lady That Does is a brilliant alternative to the often overpriced and shoddy work you might get at your local dry cleaners. Best of all, Lindsay is a vintage specialist and will give you her impartial advice on whether an item is worth salvaging or not.

In case you have some contemporary design needs, Lindsay also takes on bespoke commissions, she’s just finished a dog ruff for Enid the whippet and is currently working on 7×6 foot bespoke fitted bedsheet for a very tall gentleman, so her work isn’t just limited to clothing.
