For vintage fabrics head to The Shop

Just off Brick Lane is The Shop, a little vintage store you might just pass by if you’re not paying attention. And you most certainly don’t want to miss this one! Inside, the walls are covered with shelves all tightly packed with incredible vintage fabrics and textiles from the Thirties to the Seventies, while dozens of baskets are spilling out vintage scarves, aprons, tables cloths and kitchen towels.

There are also hat stands full of turbans, fedoras and felt cloches while a little back room is tightly packed with incredible vintage womenswear.

Best of all this gem of a shop has some of the best prices in all of London: expect to pay around £3 for 1/2 metre of fabric, £15 for a vintage designer scarf and £35 for a mint condition Fifties summer dress. Our top tip, head there on Thursdays when they get their new deliveries.

I bought some beautiful curtains from this shop recently for my bedroom & living room areas. I love the fact that you can see the pattern on both sides they look really dramatic from outside & I have had so many great comments. I was lucky enough to buy 3 panels of the same curtain for my bedroom in bold flowers beautiful to wake up to. I will definately be back for more!

Absolutely love this shop – a treasure trove of vintage fabric at fantastic prices. Very helpful owner, so glad I found this shop, my only regret is I live so far away!!!
