Traditional gelati: Marine Ices

Traditional gelati: Marine Ices

Run for generations by the same Italian family, who opened their first business in 1928, Marine Ices in Chalk Farm is a proper continental ice-cream parlour with the classic Fifties exterior to proof its long-standing popularity.

Expect a range of delicious ice-creams including classic flavours such as stracciatella and pistacchio, which you can either take away or eat inside in the slightly bizarre marine-themed parlour. If you’re calorie counting there are also frozen yoghurts and fruit sorbets to choose from.

Marine Ices also includes an Italian restaurant next-door which serves average Italian food. Skip it, head to the gelataria instead and enjoy authentic Italian flavours in a Fifties atmosphere.
