Shakes, hot dogs and 50s tunes at The Love Shake

Shakes, hot dogs and 50s tunes at The Love Shake

There’s now quite a plethora of newly opened Fifties diners, shake bars and American-style burger joints in London but Shoreditch’s The Love Shake manages to stand out with great value food and unpretentious style.

The diner on Kingsland Road features a Fifties-inspired interior with red leather booths, vintage bits and bobs such as an old TV and kitch Coca Cola signs. It’s tiny – which makes for a cosy atmosphere and super friendly service.

Food and drink is served from 18.30 – till late, the classic  milkshakes are huge and utterly delicious, the burgers and dogs are always served fresh and so cheap you wonder why you’d ever go to McDonalds ever again.

Friday and Saturday evening usually features a play list of funk-inspired tracks, selected by resident DJ Ednut, while Saturday and Sunday mornings are designated for breakfast –  enjoy a giant stack of waffles while leisurely reading through magazines and papers as you listen to selected blues, rockabilly and  jazzy beats. Swell!
