Royal Academy Midsummer Night's Fête

Royal Academy Midsummer Night’s Fête

Head to the Royal Academy for a magical Midsummer Night’s Fête complete with village fête stalls and amazing entertainment.

In the courtyard, The Vintage Mafia will roll out the greens and unveil a village fête from a bygone era. With a free cocktail in hand experience the The Candid Jug Orange Band, stalls, Mr Smith’s Letterpress workshop and a takeaway van manned by a crack team of poets who will write, perform and hand deliver to you your very own verse.

Then step inside the galleries, where The Gabby Young Trio will perform their unique mix of jazz and raggle taggle folk, or as they like to call it, ‘circus swing’ in the incredible surroundings of 1,000 works of art from the Summer Exhibition. Walk through Lora Avedian’s oversized flower installations, see yarn bombing by Whodunnknit, experience art brought to life with roaming performances by Frog Morris and play a round of artist bingo.

In the 19th century Life Drawing Room, the world of a Midsummer Night’s Dream will be transformed into scenes for you to draw. Art Macabre will be hosting this ‘death drawing’ salon to open your eyes to the subversive side of life drawing, join in and flex your own creative muscles.

Round off your night with a trip to the normally hidden Victorian vaults of the Academy and lose yourself in our DJs’ selection at our silent disco. Or relax in the Keeper’s House where sounds, drinks and bar snacks will be available until midnight.
