Pick up a picnic

Make the most of the last few remaining summer days and head to John Lewis Oxford Street, where they have just launched a picnic pick up service – available throughout the summer and early autumn weeks.

Held in the John Lewis Foodhall from Waitrose, the new picnic service takes care of all the alfresco dining preparation and ensures you will walk away with a bespoke hamper full of fresh, seasonal foods, expertly prepared by their food specialists.

You start off by going on a mini-tour of the Foodhall, where you will be given expert tips on food and drink pairings. Food lovers will be able to sample picnic tasters including traditional English Quicks Vintage cheddar with Paxton & Whitfield caramelised onion, stone-baked baguette and a West country cider; Bresola air-dried beef with grilled artichokes and tabouleh; French Jesus (yes, that’s right, Jesus) salami paired with hot cherry peppers stuffed with ricotta cheese; and Marmalade ham with mostarda (dried fruits in a thick syrup) and a crisp white wine.

Once you’ve made your selection they will then pack the hamper for you to collect within 20 minutes.

We recommend the Water Hyacinth picnic hamper, £45 (pictured).
