Party like a Victorian at The Alternative Diamond Jubilee

Party like a Victorian at The Alternative Diamond Jubilee

The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee is upon us and the Museum of London Docklands is preparing to revel like it’s 1897. Take a step back into the brilliant and bizarre world of the Victorians at the Alternative Diamond Jubilee. Marvel at illusionists, turn your hand to time-honoured crafts or learn about awesome Victorian strongmen.

Performances on the evening include a set by ‘chap hop’ sensation, a fusion of hip hop and steampunk, Professor Elemental. Burlesque artiste, Vicky Butterfly, will be captivating onlookers with her unique and theatrical dance routines. There will also be illusionists performing perplexing magic tricks that will leave you bewildered.

In addition there will be an expert-led talk exploring Victorian fashion must-haves. David Waller will be giving an illustrated talk on the ‘father of modern bodybuilding’ strongman Eugen Sandow. There will also be an opportunity to make your own traditional coronation souvenir in one of our craft workshops and, as ever, the bar will be stocked and open!

Dress code: think fin de siècle finery and steampunk chic.
