My Vintage London - vintage boutique owner Carmen Haid

Carmen Haid, owner and founder of vintage boutique Atelier Mayer shares her favourite vintage shopping haunts.

The Vintage Guide to London: Who are you, and what do you do?

Carmen Haid:My name is Carmen Haid, and I am the founder of vintage boutique, a vintage heaven on your finger tips.

The Vintage Guide to London: Why do you like vintage – or in other words, what does vintage mean to you?

Carmen Haid: I love vintage because it is injecting worn garments and accessories with new life again. It’s also sustainable and environment friendly because the product exists already and doesn’t  need to be produced again.

What are your favourite London vintage shops?

Carmen Haid: For clothes I really love Mensah Vintagein Notting Hill and the Clerkenwell-based C20 Vintage Fashion (think Biba and Ossie Clark). For interiors I head to Alfie’s Antique Market

The Vintage Guide to London: Do you ever go to vintage events? If so, which ones would you recommend?

Carmen Haid:
I go to fairs such as Discover Vintage, markets – I love Kempton Court -, auctions and anything that sounds inspiring.

The Vintage Guide to London: What are your favourite vintage places in London?

Carmen Haid: Portobello Road and in the East End, the shops on Brick Lane and Borough Market.

The Vintage Guide to London: What’s the must do vintage thing you shouldn’t miss out on  in London?

Carmen Haid: check out Atelier Mayer’s new boutique, which just opened in Connaught Village, 47 Kendal Street, London W2 2BU.
