London launch: vintage porn, cabaret and lectures with ArtWank

Following sold-out success at the Marlborough Theatre in Brighton, ArtWank comes to its spiritual home in London’s East End to kick off capital proceedings. Expect slapstick comedy with vintage erotic cinema, encouraging porno-sing-alongs, debate and dressing-up. For the inaugural night, potty-mouthed pin-up Ophelia Bitz presents a multi-sensory evening of rare antique porn, cabaret performance and interactive lectures from contemporary sex professionals at the fantastic multi-media gallery The Horse Hospital.

Previous screenings have included Jean Genet’s Un Chant D’Amour, a Belgian Super 8 spunky football anthem sing-along, sexy food advice from Bill Shipton – the Godfather of Splosh, Thirties al fresco wrestling porn and early animations, trick photography and more black and white smut than you can shake a whip at!

Guest speaker Kitty Stryker, a contemporary courtesan and sex-writer, will deliver a mini-lecture on Why Sex Is Fun, clowns, kinky psychology and DIY porn. Derranged performance artiste Crimson Skye and her Supermassive Black Hole will titillate, confuse and arouse you beyond realms of normality and good taste.

Maestro accordionista Tom Baker will be pumping his organ furiously to the flickerings of the silver screen and may just treat you to songs of treachery, vodka and sub-aquatic monsters. Or he may just eat your soul.
