Radio Theatre: The Hound Of The Baskervilles
Following last year’s five-star, sell out run, Veni Vidi Theatre Company are returning to Theatro Technis with their hit production ‘The Hound Of The Baskervilles – The Radio Theatre’ from 30th April 2012.
Delivering a playful twist on a classic, ‘The Hound Of Baskervilles – The Radio Theatre’ presents the Sherlock Holmes thriller, through a ‘live’ late Thirties radio broadcast.
Capturing the spirit and notoriety of Orson Welles’ popular ‘Mercury Theatre On The Air’ anthology, the show centres around nine radio stars from the golden age of radio playing an array of characters, while utilizing hundreds of period sound foley props to retell the gothic tale with the panache and comic gusto as these iconic pre-war drama serials.
Based on ‘Yes, Prime Minister’ star, Simon Williams’ stage adaptation of the novel and directed by Natalie-Anne Downs, the immersive performance invites audience members to become ‘voyeurs’ behind the studio glass: They’ll witness the off-stage antics and the relationships between the radio stars develop while this spectacle of suspense, drama and hilarity unfolds, all live onstage.
Supported by the members of leading UK sight loss charity, The Royal Institute of Blind, ‘The Hound Of Baskervilles – The Radio Theatre’ received praise for being a ‘highly accessible’ performance event for anyone with visual impairments to enjoy. The company will run touch tours in conjunction with the show for blind and visually impaired theatre goers to fully experience all elements the unique show before the performance begins.
