Hendrix’s London flat to become museum

A bland office space in 23 Brook Street will soon be restored to its 1968 glory, when the flat was rented by guitar legend Jimi Hendrix and his girlfriend Kathy Etchingham.

The Heritage Lottery Fund is due to announce a £1.2m grant to restore the rooms to their late Sixties look in a permanent museum which will also have displays on Hendrix’s life, work and musical legacy.

The flat is currently used as an office space by The Handel Museum, which looks after the legacy of yet another musical heavy weight – Handel used to live next door at number 25.
