East End classic: Absolute Vintage

East End classic: Absolute Vintage

East End classic Absolute Vintage is a mecca for shoe lovers and bargain hunters but not for the faint of heart – step inside the door and you’ll see why.

An accessory heaven, the sheer volume of shoes here is enough to send the most discerning vintage princess into panicky child-in-a-sweetshop mode.

Although the shop stocks mens and womens wear form the Thirties to the Eighties, the emphasis is more on the later decades.

Choose a route and you’ll discover rows and rows of scuffed-to-perfection heels and boots in candy colours, battered leather clutch bags squashed haphazardly into boxes and a small but-well chosen collection of Eighties sailor dresses, fluffy pearl-adorned cardigans and retro tennis dresses.

The owners know their audience too: there’s a seating area where you can take a breather while you peruse old copies of Vogue and The Face – also handy for depositing bored boyfriends
