Get into Cafe Couture with Sweat Shop and Jean Pierre Braganza
Paris-based sewing cafe Sweat Shop, which is all about old-fashioned crafts, has not only launched a fab book jam-packed with eclectic sewing, knitting and home deco projects, but is also setting up shop at Selfridges this month for a range of inspiring masterclasses by some of the world’s most amazing designers.
We’ve all realised by now that crafting isn’t just for members of the WI, and Sweat Shop The Book, is full of inspiring ideas to get you making, doing and mending. Highlights for vintage fans include instructions on how to make a floppy Seventies hat, how to make vintage wallpaper look aged and a recipe for chocolate cake which until now had been a closely guarded family secret for generations. You will need to have some skills (basic knitting, sewing, etc) to use some of the guides in the book, but others are very much for anyone.
If you’d like some industry pros to show you how it’s down, head to Selfridges now, where Sweat Shop is hosting a pop-up crafting shop. Workshops this week include how
Oliver Sweeney Shoes: Wednesday 21 September at 1pm.

JEAN PIERRE BRAGANZA: Friday 23 September 1pm.
