At the BFI: Dance Of The Vampires
Enjoy Polanski’s Dance Of The Vampires, an affectionate, pleasingly stylish spoof of Hammer-style vampire movies, with Jack MacGowran and Polanski himself at risk in Count Ferdy Mayne’s castle.
Douglas Slocombe’s elegant camerawork enhances the loveliness of the sets and accentuates the performance of Sharon Tate, while Komeda’s fine score comes into its own during an expertly-staged ball sequence. Alfie Bass is just one of a host of iconic Sixties faces to grace the film.
The screening on Sun 13 Jan will be introduced by Daniel Bird.
